Door Supervisor
- Licensed premises: pubs, bars, clubs
- Events and festivals
- Also covers Security Guard work
- Physical intervention training included
Security Guard
- Static, retail, office and site guarding
- Does not cover door supervision at licensed premises
- Shorter course: 30 hours over 4 days
- No physical intervention module
Training differences
Door Supervisor is 44 hours over 6 days with permitted self-study and includes physical intervention. Security Guard is 30 hours over 4 days. Both require valid first aid before training starts, and both lead to a separate application to the SIA.
Which should you choose?
If you might ever work on the door of a licensed venue or at events, choose Door Supervisor: it covers guarding work too. If you know you want static, retail or site roles and want the shorter course, Security Guard is enough. Already licensed? Check the refresher route for your category.
