Refresher details
Do you hold a personal licence in Scotland?
If so, there are two legal requirements you must meet to keep your licence valid.
Every 5 years
5‑year refresher training
- Complete refresher training
- Pass the refresher exam
- Submit your certificate to the Licensing Board that issued the original licence
This must be done within 5 years of the date your licence was granted.
Every 10 years
10‑year licence renewal
- Apply to renew your licence
- Do so no later than 3 months before the expiry date
Your personal licence is valid for 10 years.
Failing to do either can result in automatic revocation of your licence.
